Welcome!

My name is Daniel Le Corre, I am a second-year Physics PhD student researching Planetary Surface Feature Detection with Machine Learning.

I am currently based at the Centre for Astrophysics and Planetary Science (CAPS) at the University of Kent in Canterbury, UK. I am also affiliated with the Centre d'Etudes et de Recherche de Grasse (CERGA) at ACRI-ST in Grasse, France.

My background is mostly in computational planetary science, but I have previously worked in Earth Observation.

  • 2021 to present - Physics PhD titled "Planetary Surface Feature Detection with Machine Learning" as a collaboration between the University of Kent and ACRI-ST.

  • 2017 to 2021 - Master of Physics degree with First Class Honours in "Astronomy, Space Science and Astrophysics" from the University of Kent.

  • Sessional Demonstrator and Marker for laboratory and programming undergraduate physics and chemistry modules at the University of Kent.

  • Earth Observation Intern for 8 weeks in summer 2020 at Deimos Space UK.

  • Former Junior Data Scientist at Deimos Space UK working on training Deep Learning models for Earth Observation.

  • EXPLORE Data Challenges Team Member helping to develop and launch the 2022 Lunar Data Challenges.

  • Treasurer on the organising committee for the PLANCKS competition's 2021 UK/Ireland preliminaries
